Library Construction Update!

After months of meetings with architects, contractors, and city boards and commissions, we’re finally getting ready to start fixing the water problems with the library’s exterior! This is the biggest part of the library maintenance bond that voters funded last fall. All the siding and windows on the east half of the building will get replaced to keep water from leaking in. Our contractor thinks this will take about 4 months to accomplish.

Our construction crews need space to work safely and they need to store about 2 semi-truck loads of siding and other materials for the project. From July 9-October 30, the following areas will be closed:

  • Parking lot between the library and the Haymarket
  • The alley between the library and Anderson Law Office
  • The library’s lower-level entrance
  • The library’s lower-level book drop

The Main St. entrance will be open and we’re planning to keep our regular open hours during construction. The Winnebago St. book drop will stay open. We’ll have signs up around the building to let you know what’s open and what’s closed. If you need any help getting into the building or getting library materials, please give us a call at 563-382-3717 and we’ll do what we can! Your access to library resources is our priority!

Thank you for your continued support with this project!
