Borrow From Another Library
Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state. If you can’t find an item in DPL’s collection, ask library staff to help you borrow it from another library.
August 2025 Service Update:
The State Library of Iowa is transitioning to a new interlibrary loan delivery system due to budget constraints and increased carrier costs. Deliveries to Decorah Public Library will shift from twice a week to once a week, beginning August 4, with materials transported by AEA van drivers.
All deliveries are paused through August 3 during the transition. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust to the new schedule.
Decorah Public Library patrons are able to borrow books, journal articles, books on tape or CD, music CDs, and DVDs from other libraries throughout the state. When a patron is looking for an item that we don’t own, library staff can generally request it from another library and will often receive it within a few days. The one exception is that most libraries will not lend items that have been published within the past year.
