Speculative Fiction Book Group: Empire of Silence

Decorah Public Library staff are hosting five book discussions this month. The groups are open to the public and newcomers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested should call the library at 382-3717 to learn more or to reserve a book. Email ktorresdal@decorahlibrary.org to be added to any of the five groups’ email distribution lists. Funds for multiple copy sets were generously provided by Friends of Decorah Public Library.  

The Speculative Short Fiction Group will meet via Zoom on Wednesday September 16 (note date change) at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Cabaret in Flames by Hache Pueyo, a dark fantasy novella set in an alternate Brazil where a physician and a mysterious vampire investigate the disappearance of their shared mentor.

The Speculative Fiction Book Group will follow at 6:45 p.m. via the same Zoom link to discuss Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio, the first installment in an epic space opera chronicling the rise of a notorious galactic hero—and the choices that made him a legend.
