History Book Group: Empire’s Crossroads: 1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History- and How it Shattered a Nation

Decorah Public Library staff are hosting five book discussions this month. The groups are open to the public and newcomers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested should call the library at 382-3717 to learn more or to reserve a book. Email ktorresdal@decorahlibrary.org to be added to any of the five groups’ email distribution lists. Funds for multiple copy sets were generously provided by Friends of Decorah Public Library.

The History Book Group will meet on the second floor of the library on Thursday September 17 at 3:00 p.m. to discuss the first half of 1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History- and How it Shattered a Nation by Andrew Ross Sorkin, a dramatic account of the powerful personalities, reckless decisions, and mounting pressures behind the 1929 stock market crash.

For more information, contact Tricia Gunderson (Friday Book Group) or Kristin Torresdal (Happy Hour, History, and Speculative Fiction Book Groups) at 563-382-3717.

Construction Notice: The parking lot east of the library will be temporarily closed beginning July 9th due to construction and is expected to remain closed until fall. During this time, the drive-through book drop, and lower-level entrance are also closed. We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming you through our Main Street entrance.
