Northeast Iowa RCD – Winneshiek Farmer’s Market

Volunteers will serve as Market Money Cashiers at the Winneshiek County Farmer’s Market on  The purpose of this assignment is to make it easier for those people who take part in the SNAP food program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to buy fresh, nutritious food at the Winneshiek County Farmer’s Market.

In order to provide confidentiality of the SNAP program participants, people utilizing debit or credit cards will also be able to utilize this service with each party receiving a different token for the card they are using. The participant will scan their EBT (SNAP) card or debit or credit card for a set amount of dollars and the cashier will give them either a SNAP EBT token or debit or credit token for the funds they wish to withdraw from their account. The participant will then be able to use these tokens at any vendor taking part in the farmers market. The SNAP EBT participant and those individuals selling at the Farmers Market will be aware of what food items they can buy with their tokens.

When: Winneshiek Farmer’s Market is held May-October, Wednesdays, 3;00 – 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00-11:00 a.m.
