Speculative Fiction Short Stories Book Group: The Narrow Road Between Desires

Decorah Public Library staff are hosting five book discussions in September. The groups are open to the public and newcomers are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested should call the library at 382-3717 to learn more or to reserve a book. Email ktorresdal@decorahlibrary.org to be added to any of the five groups’ email distribution lists. Funds for multiple copy sets were generously provided by Friends of Decorah Public Library.  

The Speculative Fiction Book Group will meet via Zoom Wed. Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Patrick Rothfuss’ “The Narrow Road Between Desires.” Zoom link available on the library website. Bast knows how to bargain. The give-and-take of a negotiation is as familiar to him as the in-and-out of breathing; to watch him trade is to watch an artist at work. But even a master’s brush can slip. When he accepts a gift, taking something for nothing, Bast’s whole world is knocked askew, for he knows how to bargain—but not how to owe.
